Double Opt-in

Double Opt-in is a method of organizing a subscription to a mailing list with double confirmation, that is, adding new subscribers to the database in two stages:

  • First, they fill out a form on the website or app, enter their email address in it and click the “Subscribe” button.
  • Then a letter is automatically sent to their email asking them to confirm their subscription by clicking on the link in it. The subscriber is added to the mailing list only after successful confirmation.

The effectiveness of any mailing lists largely depends on the Double Opt-in method. Its availability helps email services to verify the legality of the mailing list and freely skip such emails into their inboxes. It is believed that emails from a newsletter without a two-step subscription are 95% likely to end up in spam, and with it only a 25% chance.
