UTM tags
UTM tags (or simply UTM, Urchin Tracking Module) - this term hides a technology that allows you to track details about traffic on a site.
Technically, UTM tags are code snippets that are embedded directly into the link body and allow you to track exactly where the visitor came to your site from. Let's say you have placed several links on a third-party page leading to your resource. If the traditional approach is used, then it will be possible to find out only the very fact of the transition from this page. If the links contain UTM tags, then it will also be possible to determine, for example, which of these links is the most popular among visitors.
Today, UTM tags are actively used for posting on social networks. Thanks to this, you can track from which post and from which group the transition was made. Links with such an addition are actively placed in email newsletters and even for QR codes on offline media. To date, UTM tags have become a real standard, actively used in analytics.
Thanks to UTM tags, you can at least find out the source of the traffic, its type, as well as the advertising campaign. All this is included in the required parameters that must be included in the link. There are also optional parameters that can be omitted, but which will help you get additional information. You can read more about how UTM tags look in our material.
Links containing UTM tags can be created manually. But it is much more convenient and practical to use special constructors, fortunately, they are provided free of charge.
