OpenAI Releases GPT-4, the Next Generation of Smart Language Model
The OpenAI Research Lab has officially released GPT-4, the next generation of its AI language model, to the world. Before the presentation of the novelty, there were lively discussions on the Internet about its intended functionality. Some were firmly convinced that this technology would become one of the major milestones in the development of mankind and forever change all of us.
For several months now, ChatGPT-inspired Internet users have been restless in anticipation of the next-generation GPT language model announced by OpenAI. Finally, the long-awaited presentation of GPT-4 took place. During the novelty presentation, representatives of the research laboratory dispelled many of the myths that it had already acquired, and, probably, disappointed those who had placed too high hopes on it.
The fourth generation of the AI language model, like the third, is used in the ChatGPT chatbot and the Bing search engine. Its main difference lies in multimodality and the perception of images as input. This suggests that the "smart" chatbot has received the ability to process and analyze not only textual, but also graphical information. OpenAI's experts emphasized that the skill of synchronous text and image analysis allows GPT-4 to understand and interpret much more complex incoming data. At the same time, representatives of the company refused to answer the question of interest to many about the number of parameters of the new model.
Today, OpenAI is actively discussing GPT-4 integration with a number of enterprises. In particular, cooperation negotiations are underway with Khan Academy and Stripe. Duolingo implemented GPT-4 into its service on the day of the official presentation of the novelty and immediately announced this to its customers.
GPT-4 technology is already available to both developers (as an API) and the general public. It will be available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers (that's a $20 monthly subscription to ChatGPT) and users of Microsoft's Bing search engine.
