Downloaded podcasts and tools for working with this type of content will completely disappear from Facebook by June 3rd.

Meta, citing the need to focus on more important goals, has announced that the podcast service is no longer on its list of priority development areas. Many analysts note that the company, having appreciated the high level of competition in this area, represented by, for example, Spotiify and Apple, decided to focus on the development of more promising areas, like Instagram Reels.

It is reported that over the coming weeks, the podcast service will be phased out, and by June 3, the tools for publishing podcasts and the content itself will disappear from the platform. We are talking about both the podcast service and the Soundbites product, the audio center that was common to these services will also disappear from the platform.

From the beginning of May, podcasters will no longer be able to add new episodes and audio files to Facebook, but for another month, access to previously uploaded content will remain. At the same time, the platform does not plan to inform ordinary users about the termination of support for podcasts, this can be done by the publishers themselves at their discretion.

It is also reported that Live Audio Rooms will no longer be a separate service and will become part of Facebook Live. Thus, the broadcast can be carried out both in video and audio format, and only in the audio version.
